The indissoluble bond with the Rabbit House

Ms. Taeko Seyama, the soul of Rabbit House

The work-study girls at Rabbit House are famously cute.

The simple-looking rabbit house is always busy.

The fruit crafts I provided are displayed in the window of the Rabbit House.

rabbit houseIt is an old wagashi shop with a history of 60 years. It is located along the Tokyo Chuo Line. It is called"Asagaya"In a small town, Asagaya is a quiet and cozy town amidst the bustle.

I met Rabbit House when I was in second grade. The school teacher took several international students to a confectionery factory for internship. They also visited Rabbit House, a famous wagashi store that is often featured in Japanese magazines.

The store is very simple and has a quiet feeling like a wagashi shop in Kyoto. But the steady flow of visitors reveals its local popularity.

We received the freshly baked Dorayaki from the enthusiastic factory manager, and we were overjoyed with its solid deliciousness. Before I left, I decided to buy a dorayaki and when I took it home, I accidentally found a recruitment notice posted on the corner of the window, and I couldn't help but feel...OS I thought: "It turns out I am a work-study student! I really want to work here!" After returning to school, I immediately asked the employment teacher to help me call the store. I didn't expect that the store owner was willing to interview me, which really surprised and delighted me. Usually, if you are told that you are a foreigner, you will not be considered.

That night I was so excited that I couldn't sleep all night, and I was hysterically worried about how I would be able to interview well since my Japanese was fluent. I finally made it to the day of the interview, and decided to go to the appointment with the mentality that it would be normal even if I was not admitted.

When I went to the reception room on the second floor, I saw a petite old woman with half-white hair. She said to me, "Good day! This is the first time we meet. Please take a seat." Judging from the interview scenes I have experienced in Taiwan, this kind of It’s extremely small! I still can't help but feel nervous!

This elderly woman is Seto, the owner of the Rabbit House. Yamataeko Madam, after reading my resume carefully, she asked curiously: "You have been working in design in Taiwan for seven years. You should have achieved a certain level of achievement. Why did you abandon it and come all the way to study?" "What about Japanese confectionery?" I replied: "Designing work can't directly feel the joy of customers; but making confectionery can. When the customer looks at your confectionery excitedly and then smiles happily and says it's delicious, it doesn't matter anymore. There is nothing more fulfilling than this!" Seyama said in surprise: "You are so brave! With your Japanese so broken, you dare to come to the interview alone!" Then he asked: "Then why did you choose wagashi? ?" I replied loudly: "Wagashi is so beautiful! After learning about foreign confectionery in Taiwan, I found that it was not what I wanted.Seyama smiled and said, "Because it's either cream or cheese, right?" I couldn't help but smile and nod.

So she disappeared for about twenty minutes. I wondered if she was going to discuss me with the store manager? ! How anxious!

She appears! A bowl of "Shiratama Zenzai" was served to me on a tray with a cup of green tea. As I ate it, I thought to myself that this was a kind refusal.!

I probably have no hopeHow do I know that she flipped through the calendar hanging on the wall and asked me, who was flattered, "When can you come to work?"ah! How about the 6th of this month?!  I'm like a frog caught in the flashlight in the middle of the night~Stupefied!

I think she was touched by my courage! After returning to school, I pulled the teacher's sleeve and was so happy that I couldn't speak for a long time. The teacher said straight away: "Congratulations! Congratulations!" The teaching assistant even told me, "You are very lucky! Behave well!"

In this way, every holiday, I am in the Rabbit House. Take advantage of any day you can work at Rabbit House, and make sure you don’t go back to Taiwan during the winter and summer vacations, or during the Lunar New Year!

Jinjin, the factory director who has worked in Rabbit House for more than 20 years, often saw him being merciless when he cursed, but he loved me very much. On the eve of my return to China, he specially made a super large dorayaki with a diameter of 25 centimeters for me. Said that before he helped the Japanese baseball team's American playersMatsui HidekiI also made one, but it was smaller than the one given to me.
