"Buddha-gashi" was the name patented in 2013 by Teacher Emily Wu Huijing to classify wagashi made for offering to Buddha. The creative inspiration for the Buddha-gashi in the Seed-word Series came when she was attending a Buddhist ceremony. The beautiful Buddhist Sanskrit Seed Syllable is the symbol of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, one word and syllable represents one particular Buddha or Bodhisattva. In Tantric Buddhism, it also represents the mantra spoken by the Buddhas, which contain powerful energy. When Teacher Emily is making this series of Buddha-gashi, with a heart full of joy, she will listen to the particular Buddha or Bodhisattva's mantra while cutting the lotus being offered.

May the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas protect all mankind, and hope that in the future world, everyone will have correct faith and righteous thoughts, there will be no wars and disputes, no disasters and sufferings, and a world of peace and joy will be achieved.

【Vow-Fulfilling Vajra】

The pronunciation of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva’s seed syllable: ह Ha

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva: One of the four great Bodhisattvas of "Wisdom and Compassion" in Chinese Buddhism. He is well-known for his great vow to save sentient beings in hell "Unless hell is empty, I will never become a Buddha". The world respects him as the "Bodhisattva of the Great Vow". In fact, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva does not only care about the sentient beings in the nether world. In the teaching area of our master Sakyamuni Buddha, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva also works tirelessly to save all sentient beings on the six-paths in the Saha (mundane) World, so that they can avoid suffering and realize liberation. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was once a woman named Guangmu when she was in the human world. Her mother did not believe in cause and effect and did many evil deeds. She went to hell and suffered. Guangmu received instructions from Buddhist saints and set up a Buddha statue at home to worship devoutly. Her sincere filial piety moved heaven. She rescued her mother from hell and helped her mother reincarnate into a good place. Later, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva made the vow to rescue all sentient beings from hell. His purity of mind, as steady as the earth and as rich as treasure, is deeply admired by the world.

Things to note:

  • Buddha-gashi is a Jonamagashi made with bean paste. It will easily dry out when exposed to the air. Therefore, it is recommended to keep it in the original transparent packaging box during the process of offering to Buddha. Please make sure the transparent cover is tightly closed to avoid water loss.
  • In order to avoid collision damage during transportation, the bottom of the Buddha-gashi is fixed with a plastic three-prong bracket. If you need to move the Buddha-gashi, please remove or cut off the bracket from the outside of the bottom of the box when the Buddha-gashi is in a semi-frozen state before taking it out of the box.
  • It is recommended that the Buddha-gashi be kept at room temp. for no more than 2 hours and consumed on the same day.
  • Color deviations may occur due to various reasons such as hand dyeing, photography, and individual computer settings. Therefore, the pictures are for reference only, and everything is subject to the actual product.
