Mizu manju

Water buns originally come from China's crystal buns, which are as translucent as crystal and have a springy and tender texture. They are best eaten in summer after being chilled. This type of wagashi made from arrowroot powder is also known as kudzu manju and narcissus manju. It is difficult to distinguish them by definition, so the oval-shaped ones are collectively called water manju.
