Uiro ういろう

Made of rice, uiro is a soft and elastic, slightly chewy mochi. It was originally the name of a rank of officials in Tang Dynasty China. Later, Japan had a popular wagashi made with brown sugar, which looked similar to a medicine with the same name, "Tou Ding Xiang" (over the top fragrance), so this name became widely spread.

This pleasingly cute yet realistic-looking mochi uses aged plum wine made with selected Puli green plum, incorporated into white bean paste, resulting in a natural sweet and sour filling with a fragrant plum wine aroma.
