▍Teacher Introduction

Toukaya Teacher Course Cohort 2, creator engaged in digital art development. 

 

▍What kind of opportunity did you get to know Toukaya?

I was lacking inspiration for my creative work and wanted to try to find hands-on courses to stimulate new ideas and different feelings, which is how I came across Toukaya.

 

▍Can you please share with us your journey from student to teacher?

After the first lesson, I looked forward to every class. Perhaps it's natural talent as a creator, I'm used to collecting different new materials everywhere (such as stories, feelings during the crafting process, and perspectives and meanings of the 24 solar terms). Each class silently broadens my perspective. With this anticipation, I unknowingly became a member of Toukaya's teaching team.

 

 

▍What are your expectations for the future (for the field of wagashi)?

After deeply appreciating the charm of wagashi (Japanese sweets), I began to consider combining the 24 solar terms with wagashi, hoping to develop a unique Japanese wagashi ritual concept that is tailored to Taiwan's solar terms and suitable for pairing with various confections. This motivation stems from discovering that teacher Emily and the Toukaya teachers have created many wagashi pieces imbued with local Taiwanese flavor. Furthermore, in recent years, Taiwan has produced many high-quality teas and coffee beans, and I hope to keep pace with the times and create a wagashi cultural experience unique to Taiwan. This is a long-term project that requires careful study of tea and dessert pairings, the continuity of the solar terms, and the underlying logic. However, I eagerly anticipate gradually refining and completing this creation over time.
