▍Teacher Introduction
Toukaya Teacher Course Cohort 4
▍What kind of opportunity did you get to know Toukaya?
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 severely impacted the world, when all of Taiwan was under home quarantine, it made me think about what path I wanted to take in the future. I happened to see online that Toukaya was offering teacher training courses, which opened up another path of spiritual practice for me.
▍What made you want to sign up for the course?
I love Japanese culture and was drawn to the colorful wagashi (Japanese sweets). I enjoy handicrafts, and when I saw that teacher Emily was a graduate of the Tokyo Confectionery School – wagashi-major, Without question, I immediately filled out the application form online.

▍What are your expectations for the future (for the field of wagashi)?
Like traditional crafts, wagashi cannot be rushed. The aim is to preserve Japanese traditional craftsmanship and seasonal aesthetics while incorporating modern creativity and local Taiwanese ingredients, allowing more young people and the international market to recognize its cultural value. Through exquisite design and a healthy approach, wagashi becomes not just a confectionery, but an art form embodying lifestyle aesthetics and cultural exchange.
